Trump lawyers fight to keep seized Cohen files out of investigators' hands

Late breaking news revealing Sean HANNITY as Michael Cohen's secret client literally knocked Stephen Colbert off his feet.

Michael Cohen, personal lawyer of President Donald Trump, arrives for a court hearing at the US Courthouse in New York, April 16, 2018.

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow said that she was "struggling not to laugh" after hearing the court revelation, and described the situation as "just nuts".

Hannity also said that he "might have handed him 10 bucks".

The government said it has a so-called "filter team" of lawyers unaffiliated with the case available to review communications between Mr. Cohen and his clients for attorney-client privilege.

"The names of Cohen's clients are at issue because the lawyer has argued that materials seized in an Federal Bureau of Investigation raid on his home and office are subject to attorney-client privilege". The FBI raided Cohen's office last Monday as part of an investigation into possible bank fraud and election law violations.

In fact, while responding on his radio show to news that he had been identified as one of Cohen's three clients, Hannity explicitly stated that he was never represented by nor had he ever retained Cohen.

But the comedian just couldn't resist ribbing "my pal" Hannity on Monday after it emerged in court that he was a client of President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen, who is at the center of a probe by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

On his program Monday night, Hannity received a scolding from famed attorney Alan Dershowitz. Michael never represented me in any matter.

Cohen previously paid porn star Stormy Daniels $130,000 reportedly in an effort to keep her quiet about an alleged 2006 affair with Trump, while he also reportedly arranged a $1.6 million payout to a Playboy model who had become pregnant through her relationship with Republican fundraiser Elliott Broidy, his other client. By the way, I'm thinking of hiring Michael Cohen as my lawyer.

"I have a right to privacy", Hannity said in response.

The courtroom disclosure about Hannity occurred during the expanding criminal investigation into Cohen by the USA attorney's office in Manhattan. "Judge Kimba Wood ordered Hannity's identity revealed even though Hannity had specifically requested his name to remain private, which is his right", Carlson said, before reading a statement from his colleague. Would you see a conflict there? "They'll be like 'drink tummy tea, by the way, I'm sponsored by tummy tea'". "I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective", Hannity said of Cohen. He said the media was "absolutely apoplectic and hyperventilating". "He has a lawyer he doesn't pay", Kimmel joked.

The Daily Show's Trevor Noah ran a montage of a "scared" looking Hannity's previous reporting on Cohen, and criticized him for not disclosing his tie. They exchanged insults on Twitter, with Hannity calling Kimmel a racist, pervert and "Harvey Weinstein jr." and Kimmel making a gay sexual innuendo in reference to Hannity's apparent love for Trump.

"What kind of legal advice doesn't involve a third party, unless", Kimmel said, pausing to ponder.

But that didn't stop Kimmel from reveling in the news Monday of Hannity's relationship with Cohen.

During his live radio show, he seemed flustered that he was getting a steady stream of phone and email messages about it.
