Don't speak out of turn: Modi to BJP MPs, MLAs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Civil Services Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Civil Services Day

The moment we see a camera we jump to make a statement as if we are great social scientists or an expert. And then these ill-informed statements are used by media. Modi said their hard work at the grassroot level had infused a renewed energy in the BJP.

Certain things are hard, but needs to be told, said Modi in a almost 2-minute message about speaking to media.

His comments, made during an interaction with the party's MPs, MLAs and other representatives through his mobile application, assume significance in the wake of several BJP leaders making insensitive comments about the rape cases involving a 12-year-old girl in Kathua and another in Unnao in which the accused himself is a party leader. Issues like medicine prices are in hands of Govt not us.

The PM's rebuke comes amid a series of off-the-cuff remarks made by party motormouths in recent times.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday advised Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmakers to avoid making controversial statements before the media.

He urged the party leaders to hold regular Gram Sabhas, enhance their social media outreach, encourage the use of the BHIM app and further the movement of cashless transactions. The people also need to be aware of their rights and duties.

While speaking at a campaign meeting in Sulebhavi village a few days back, BJP MLA Sanjay Patil had said that the upcoming assembly election in Karnataka is not a fight for good roads or drinking water but is about Hindus and Muslims.

The PM also talked about the Mudra Yojna, saying it had benefitted almost 11 crore people.

PM Modi added that women in self-help groups are coming up with new employment opportunities in various sectors.

Those doing politics over employment figure may do so but the government will provide the masses with self-employment opportunities by developing skills of the youth, he said. "Now that BJP is in power, it our responsibility to inform the people about the work done by the government and also about the various schemes of the government which are for the upliftment of the people", he said.

Even the Prime Minister also held talks by MPs and MLAs of various issues like art growth, issues associated with the development of rural areas as well as also the welfare of farmers.
