Goerges lasted only an hour with 23 unforced errors against the 10th-ranked Kvitova, who dropped just two points on her serve in the second set and converted four of five break points.

The Czech Republic will host the United States, who beat France on Sunday, in the final on November 10-11.

"No one expected it", Pliskova said after the German hosts failed to win a set.

Kvitova imposed herself on the German in the second set for a convincing win.

The Saturday sweep was clinched when world number six Pliskova powered past Angelique Kerber 7-5, 6-3.

The Czech Republic can now make plans for the November final having won the Fed Cup for three straight years from 2014-16 until the U.S. won the 2017 title.
