The IDPs who showered encomiums on the lawmaker vowed to remain there until the police vacate the place.

The arrest, which followed weeks of controversies between the senator and the police, generated widespread reaction Monday morning. He also claimed the police has arrested his brother in front of his house.

First, he was detained by immigration officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in the capital Abuja as he was due to travel on official duty to Morocco.

"One CP came and took them away". Truth will always prevail. No warrant and case is in court, yet this lawlessness. There is a plan to kill me and I know about it.

"So here we are, a standoff at a public place at our global airport. I can not be silenced".
