Clayne Crawford - who has co-starred as Martin Riggs opposite Damon Wayans' Roger Murtaugh since the show's premiere in 2016 - has reportedly created an on-set atmopshere so toxic that it's threatening the show's renewal, according to an exclusive report from Deadline.

Loosely inspired by the film franchise starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, Fox's Lethal Weapon follows Riggs (Crawford), coming back to work after the loss of his wife and unborn child, and Murtaugh (Damon Wayans), recovering from a heart attack, as they partner up to work the beat in modern-day Los Angeles.

It's possible the same thing happens on Lethal Weapon.

The ratings for Lethal Weapon are significantly lower for Season 2, but the show also moved to a more competitive time slot on Tuesdays. The first reprimand was because I reacted with anger over working conditions that did not feel safe or conducive to good work under the leadership of a guest director and assistant director, who, in turn, were angry at my response.

Ina lightly statement posted to his Instagram, the actor called Monday's news "incredibly distressing", before going in depth to explain two incidents that led studio Warner Bros.to discipline him.

He directed the latest episode of the show, called Jesse's Girl, due to air in the United States later this week.

"I take great pride in treating everyone in life with dignity and kindness", he concluded. Crawford's behavior has led to other actors feeling uncomfortable with him continuing in the role.

"I absolutely love, respect and care for my crew and cast, and would never intentionally jeopardize so many jobs", Crawford wrote. Moreover, I love the process of filmmaking and television. It's a little too early to say one way or another what the future of the series will be, but with this apology in mind it seems as though Fox will ultimately be left with a couple of choices: Keeping the show around with Crawford or canceling it.
