Meanwhile, India will play their first match of the 2019 ICC World Cup against South Africa at Southampton on June 5 instead of June 2.

Recently, Grant Bradburn, current head coach of the Scotland national team, pleaded with the ICC to help facilitate continuous development of the associate nations after the World Cup Qualifiers presented a good picture of these teams' abilities to compete at a high level. It happened in the 2015 World Cup in Australia (at Adelaide) and the 2017 Champions Trophy in United Kingdom (in Birmingham). "Earlier, we were scheduled to start on June 2 but we couldn't have played on that day", said a BCCI official on conditions of anonymity.

The ICC Meeting was held in Kolkata, where the fixture draws were made.

India will open their 2019 World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5 and square off against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 16, a senior BCCI official told PTI today.

"This is the first time Indo-Pak match won't be a starting affair". The top four teams from the group will then progress to the knockout stage. "The CEC agreed and the matter has been referred to the ICC board", he said.

"India will play a maximum 309 days of worldwide cricket across all formats". "I had consulted the team management, the selectors, the office bearers of the BCCI and all were in agreement that one of the two Tests this season against the West Indies should be a Day-Night match", he said.
