Childish Gambino has Twitter shook with new music video

While fielding questions in 2016 about his abrupt departure from the hit NBC comedy Community, Glover appeared to hope for the death of Donald Trump.

What has Childish Gambino done?

Donald Glover is seen in his music video for "This is America". After being introduced by Zoe Kravitz, who casually held a red cup before she joined the party on stage, Childish debuted a new song, "Saturday".

Many thought Glover cleverly depicted the average American and their proneness to be easily distracted from the issues regularly affecting the country. Look at how I'm livin' now. But as protests, police clashes and chaos ensue in the background, he continues to sing oblivious to his environment.

The Morning Watch is a recurring feature that highlights a handful of noteworthy videos from around the web. He dances around giddily before taking breaks for a couple of point-blank shootings.

One of which, "This Is America", was accompanied by a Hiro Murai-directed music video.

It's a confronting look at the horrifying gun violence ravaging the U.S., and the ease at which it's ignored. The mood shifts jarringly between melodic and even celebratory to dark and violent. Glover clearly has a lot to say, the repetition of the stark "This is America!" chorus furthering his point.

Filmed in a large empty warehouse, the video for "This is America" begins with a shirtless and heavily bearded Gambino dancing in a seemingly upbeat and celebratory mood.

Childish Gambino's forthcoming fourth (and potentially final) album is expected to release this year. His hosting gig on SNL was widely considered to be one of the best of the most recent season.

Glover, 34, said it himself during his opening monologue on "SNL". Though Gambino handles every verse within the politically charged track, the song is also peppered with ad-libs from a handful of other rappers. While some may call him a triple threat - as an actor, writer and singer - he considers himself "just a threat". First up, Saturday Night Live featured a Star Wars sketch with Lando Calrissian holding a sparsely attended summit.
