It's still hard to digest Trump's McCain comments

Twitter erupts after Senator Mc Cain ‘disinvites’ Trump to his funeral

McCain, 81, was diagnosed with brain cancer last July and has been discussing his final plans, including his funeral.

Speaking to reporters in the Senate hallways on Monday, Hatch was asked about McCain's remarks to friends that he had asked the White House to send Vice President Mike Pence to his funeral but not Trump.

Today Senator Orrin Hatch weighs in on this funeral wish coming from McCain, and this topic seems to be taking on a life of its own in the headlines.

As we hear of President Donald Trump's latest revelations regarding his medical history - at least as he writes it - we again ponder the so-called bone spurs in his feet that allowed him to avoid the Vietnam War draft. McCain lost the race to Barack Obama. He has called Trump "one of the best" presidents he's ever seen.

Despite winning an unusually tough reelection campaign by promising during the Republican primary to get rid of the mandate of ObamaCare, McCain did the opposite after winning his race. "Without a full [Congressional Budget Office] score, which won't be available by the end of the month, we won't have reliable answers to any of those questions".

Hatch apologized after hearing Meghan McCain's televised comments.

Hatch's thoughts about McCain needing to invite Trump to his funeral are just the opposite of Congressman Gregory Meeks, who believes that McCain is asking Trump to stay away because he's not going to be a hypocrite.

But McCain's excuse was seen as disingenuous by many Republicans, who had been in a hurry to pass the bill, due to their ability to pass legislation with only 51 votes before the reconciliation process deadline expired.

Meghan is asking people to have "respect" for her family.

The New York Times cited McCain as saying that he wished he had instead chosen former Republican Senator Joseph Lieberman.
