"I will decide where I will play next year in the coming weeks".

One local destination could be Texas, at least according to Sporting News and 247Sports.

The Advocate's Ross Delenger and SI's Andy Staples both say the two schools have already been granted permission to contact Burrow.

Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Joe Burrow announced his plans to transfer from the school on Twitter.

Burrow, meanwhile, redshirted in 2015 with the Buckeyes before serving as a backup in 2016 and 2017.

He appeared in seven games in his career in nearly exclusively mop-up duty, passing for 287 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 63 yards and another score. Haskins spent past year as the backup, replacing an injured Barrett in the Buckeyes' win against MI.

Upon arriving at Ohio State, Burrow spent all three years behind Barrett. Meyer reiterated that thought to ESPN following Ohio State's spring game on April 14. "He's a loyal soldier, and I think I owe him an answer".

With playing time unlikely at Ohio State, Burrow's move into the open market is official.

The pro-style quarterback completed 74.4 percent of his throws for 287 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in those limited snaps. But mostly, he said Burrow and Haskins were always close. The issue was Ohio State had two quarterbacks ready to start, and someone leaving once he felt like he hadn't won the job seemed inevitable.

Burrow is immediately eligible wherever he moves to - the list of suitors will be long and likely will include high-profile options - and he has two years of eligibility remaining.
