Israeli fires dozens of rockets into Syria

"Иранцы в истерике атаки не будет

Israel's strikes overnight were one of the country's largest aerial operations in decades across the Syrian frontier, and by far its broadest direct attack yet on Iranian assets.

Israel's military says Iranian forces based in neighboring Syria fired about 20 projectiles at Israeli positions in the Golan Heights. Later, Iran accused Israel and revealed that they will also retaliate.

In a statement, the army said its troops are on high alert for an attack and defense systems have been deployed. The incoming attack set off air raid sirens in the Israeli-controlled Golan, which was captured from Syria in the 1967 war.

"The IDF sees this Iranian attack on Israel with severity", a spokesperson for the military Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus said.

Israel has neither confirmed or denied responsibility for that strike.

Israeli Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman said on Thursday he hoped the latest round of violence with Iran on the Syrian frontier was over. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights mentioned the missiles focused depots and rocket launchers that doubtless belonged to Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard in Kisweh, killing a minimum of 15 folks, eight of them Iranians.

In response to the Syrian intervention, the IAF attacked a number of Syrian aerial interception systems, including SA-5, SA-17, SA-22, SA-2 batteries.

All of Israel's planes returned to base safely.

There was no immediate information about casualties in Syria.

"Aside from an Israeli reply, as Iran shows its displeasure with the Trump decision, it is quite possible that disturbances will escalate in all of the other areas - the occupied territories, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen".

Moscow had condemned an earlier air strike that killed seven Iranians in Syria on April 9. The incursion appeared to be the first time that Israel attributed such an attack directly to Iran, which generally operates through proxies. Israel's military continues to be on high preparation and bomb shelters have been prepared for those living in risky areas.

Just hours after the violent confrontation, Israel's home front is in routine activity, with school and agricultural work proceeding as usual.

USA officials said they can not yet draw a direction correlation between President Donald Trump's withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear agreement and a potential attack against Israel but assess that the growing rhetoric from both Iranian and Israeli leaders is causing an increase in concern from the US.
