Blizzard and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation team up for charity; release Pink Mercy skin

With 100% of proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the partnership will support breast cancer research around the world. The company has announced a new skin for Mercy that isn't found in loot boxes - instead, the only way to get it is to outright purchase it.

Buying the skin on Overwatch is not the only way to show support. It seems only natural that the Overwatch medic extraordinaire, Dr. Angela Ziegler - codename: Mercy - would be at the forefront of this charity event.

Sony is underfire for purportedly taking a cut from an Overwatch skin being sold on the PlayStation Store to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

All proceeds from sales of the Pink Mercy skin and t-shirt will be donated to the BCRF.

Blizzard have guaranteed a minimum donation of $250,000 (£184k) and have put a lot of work into the skin.

An in-game skin isn't the only effort Blizzard has made to support the fight against breast cancer this month. The shirt is available for pre-order now through May 21. The full list of participating streamers is available on the official site. Blizzard notes that players must link their Blizzard account to their Twitch account to be eligible for the Twitch drops.

"Over the next 14 days, a cadre of content creators from across the globe will be streaming Overwatch under the pink-ribboned banner of breast cancer research".

Will you be donating to charity with this new skin? See above section for details.

Finally, through May 21, there will be BCRF and Pink Mercy-themed global emotes available through Twitch. Her charming and comfortable qualities make her an unbelievable support character, but also the ideal candidate for a new charity skin to support breast cancer research.
