UK's Johnson to Trump: Iran deal has weaknesses but…

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un shakes hands with Chinese State Councillor Wang Yi yesterday

President Donald Trump said "everyone thinks" he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, adding that the real prize he wants is to bring about a deal that would denuclearize North Korea, The Hill reported on Wednesday. "So that's the only prize I want", Trump said in the Cabinet room.

Previously, trump has demanded from its European allies until may 12 to "fix the awful flaws of the" nuclear deal of the year 2015, otherwise, it will refuse to extend the state of the lifting of US sanctions against Iran.

Trump has alternately called the agreement negotiated by the Obama administration and a number of other nations "bad", "terrible", "ridiculous" and "insane".

"If you do that you have to answer the question what next?"

Britain, France and Germany remain committed to the accord as is, but to address USA concerns they want to open talks on Iran's ballistic missile programme, its nuclear activities beyond 2025 - when key provisions of the deal start to expire - and its role in Middle East crises such as Syria and Yemen. Is that a realistic possibility?'

One of Mr. Moon's predecessors, Kim Dae-jung, was awarded the 2000 prize in part for his work "for peace and reconciliation with North Korea in particular", but his counterpart, Mr. Kim's father, did not receive similar recognition. I want victory for the world because that's what we're talking about.

British, French and German diplomats have been working for weeks behind the scenes with USA counterparts in an effort to preserve the Iran deal.

Iran's president Hassan Rouhani said he may stick by the deal if the "mischievous" United States pulls out, provided other countries that signed the pact agreed not to reimpose sanctions.

Under the agreement with the United States, France, Germany, Britain, Russia and China, Iran strictly limited uranium enrichment capacity to try to show that it was not trying to develop atomic bombs.

A historic agreement on the Iranian nuclear programme was taken on 15 July 2015.

Earlier Monday, Johnson wrote an op-ed for the New York Times in which he warned Trump that it would be "a mistake" to scrap the deal.
