Snapchat Launches A New Redesign After Listening To Users' Feedback

Kylie Jenner, who expressed her disappointment in Snapchat's new layout via Twitter near the end of February, likely contributed to Snapchat's rather steep stumble.

Now Snapchat appears to be responding, with the Stories feature being moved from the Friends to the left of the camera - an initial change that upset many - and are now back to the right of the camera screen when the app is opened.

Snapchat has started rolling out another update to its design, one that undoes some of the changes made in a major revamp past year that was met with a cold response by users.

At this point in time, the update is rolling out to the "majority" of iOS users with the rest soon to follow. With this redesign, Stories are returned to the far-right Discover page. Separating companies from people was a big focus for Snapchat's new design and while the test could make Stories easier to find, the network isn't completely bridging the gap between those two groups. Friends stories are listed at the top with subscriptions below with a "for you" explore page at the bottom showing celebrities and news outlets the app think a user would enjoy.

Over the past few months, Snapchat has been facing the consequences of a controversial redesign.

Along with seasonality, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel attributed the poor performance to Snapchat's recent redesign, which separated content from a user's friends and professional publishers. Stories can now be shared outside the app on the web, while the app also gained new text and mute options.

The latest changes actually go a long way toward restoring peace and tranquility for subscribers of the messaging app.

Human beings tend to resist change, which means a little grumbling from users when an online service rolls out a redesign is just par for the course.
