Cannes: 'Black Panther' Director Ryan Coogler Inspired by Movies From 'The Godfather' to 'Timbuktu'

According to Variety, director Ryan Coogler was speaking at the Cannes Film Festival where he discussed making the movie and his favourite parts.

Director Ryan Coogler poses for photographers during a photo call at the 71st global film festival, Cannes, southern France, Thursday, May 10, 2018.

"Oh man. That would be incredible if the opportunity came up".

Also, he mentions that in the comic-book version, the women did have their own spin-off, so to speak; so he'd be all in to work on it.

Actor Martin Freeman believes that the expectations of social change after the success of "Black Panther", which was the first superhero film to be primarily led by an all-black cast, are overblown. "That part of it was exciting", Coogler shared.

"It really did something to me as a filmmaker", he said, adding that in his festival experience "sometimes it can be challenging when you're in a talk and you don't see faces that look like yours".

Having grossed $1.34 billion worldwide, Marvel Studios' Black Panther now ranks as the ninth top-grossing film of all time, and, at the moment, is the top-grossing film of 2018, hovering just above Avengers: Infinity War's $1.23 billion.

It may only be May, but Black Panther has already had a massively fantastic year.

Wright-who plays Shuri, the bad-ass and brilliant younger sister of King T'Challa-signaled she was all about the idea by adorably tweeting, "Ready big bro".
