Guardiola's formidable City side set new records for points gained, goals scored and games won in a Premier League campaign by beating Brighton 3-1 on Wednesday evening.

However, Pep Guardiola has insisted he will only tinker this summer, having overhauled an ageing squad in his first two seasons in charge.

But, by the final whistle, Swansea's seven-season stay in the top flight was over and Stoke had drawn level with them on 33 points.

"The chairman said a couple of weeks ago that I was (staying) but whether that remains we'll wait and see". We have done that all season. "It was an fantastic finish from Gabriel".

"I've come in here and been able to make an impact", Hughes told reporters after Gabriel Jesus stole the points in the 94th minute. Numbers are numbers, but the way we played.

Added Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson: "Not many people would say we would get to the Champions League final". We can not be better in terms of numbers.

Wayne Routledge might have doubled the lead had he trusted his left foot rather than his right, and Stoke appeared to be obliging opponents with their own supporters cheekily calling for them to concede 10 and relegate former Potters manager Mark Hughes at Southampton.

At the start of the season, the general consensus was that one of the Manchester clubs will end up winning the Premier League title.

But they had no intention of letting the impending party distract them on the south-coast. A corner from Dusan Tadic was met by Wesley Hoedt who saw his header come back off the upright and away for a goal kick. "But the second half was much better".

Guardiola went on to praise City's youngsters Phil Foden and Brahim Diaz who got Premier League winners medals for their contribution this season.
