The employee quickly jumped up to get help as the phone burned itself out on the desk in less than 20 seconds. No one was hurt in the incident.

He has seen a phone explode before but "It takes a lot for it to explode".

Although it can not be identified in the video which smartphone exploded but ABC affiliate KTNV that reported the news notes that the phone was Apple iPhone 6s. There is no smartphone that is safe from being exploded. Another reason is defective battery.

Last year, an Australian fix shop owner said an iPhone exploded in a customer's hand, reported The Telegraph. It sparked while he was working to replace a broken screen caused by heat damage. The close call happened at a cell phone fix shop in Las Vegas.

It is always suggested that phone is not exposed to direct sunlight or high temperatures for long time.Moreover, wireless chargers used overnight can also heat up the device.

Tartaglio also recommends people use replacement batteries directly from the phone's manufacturer saying they are often more reliable than aftermarket batteries and typically aren't any more expensive. The vast majority (if not all) of phones depend upon lithium-ion batteries, which tend to be unsafe if they're either damaged or defective.
