Mario Tennis Aces is still on track for a June 22 release date, so Nintendo is gearing up for the launch with an online demo. It looks like Luigi inadvertently unleashes some kind of evil on the Mushroom Kingdom that can only be combated with the power of Tennis.

Mario Tennis Aces will be available to play early from June 1 to June 3 before it's released on June 22.

This announcement also comes with a better look at the game's Adventure Mode in a short 43-second video.

If you're looking forward to Mario Tennis Aces, you won't have to wait too much longer. This time, a story mode will accompany the tennis action as players explore the island as Mario and face off in various challenges.

The demo will be available for download from the Nintendo eShop in Japan starting May 25. You'll be able to play against other people online or against AI opponents, although you'll need to have an online connection either way. If you gain enough performance-related points, you can unlock a further five characters, though it's not clear who these are.

The "Mario Tennis Aces" demo requires participants to be connected to the internet all throughout the tournament. In Swing Mode, players can use their Joy-Con controllers like a tennis racket, swinging them to initiate the tennis swings in the game.

You can try Smash, and its partners Serve and Volley.

Nintendo announced Tuesday that their prelaunch demo event will run from June 1 at 6 p.m. PT through June 3 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

Those who play the beta will also receive Mario's trademark dungaree's in the main game as a free cosmetic unlock.
