President Trump tweets Mother's Day message

President Donald Trump wished Americans a happy Mother's Day on Sunday and shared a heartwarming message about how their "love and courage and devotion" has helped shape our nation. After doing so in separate posts, critics of the administration chose to hit back. Additional reports have since speculated about trouble with the first couple, including Melania allegedly keeping her distance in private.

Melania Trump, who he did not mention specifically in his Mother's Day tribute, posted a photo of pale pink roses with the caption 'Happy Mother's Day!'

'This Sunday is one of the most important days of the year. "I would like to thank all of the mothers and grandmothers in our lives". Her name was Mary MacLeod. Warm. Loving. Really smart. He credited her with at least a portion of his own success, calling her "tough, if she needed to be" and "a really nice person".

"So much of what I've done and so much of what I've become is because of my mother", he added. I learned a lot from her mother.

Trump praised all mothers for their contributions to the country. They married and have been married for many, many years.

On May 9, at an event celebrating military mothers and spouses, Melania talked about the strength and patience required to bring up a child.

Even Donald Trump Jr.

But despite having five children by three different women Trump didn't mention any one of them - most notably his wife Melania. "Sad", one tweet read.

"As a mother myself, I know what goes into raising a child". "So, I say this to you as I think about my mother: Happy Mother's Day, and God bless the United States of America".

"Your mother should have been charged with crimes against humanity", a social media user wrote.

She found work as a domestic worker before marrying Trump's father, Fred Trump Sr, in 1936.

This is not the first time that Donald Trump has chosen golf over time with his wife on Mother's Day.
