Rangers FC transfer news Ibrox club have not made an offer for Steven Gerrard's former Liverpool teammate Martin Skrtel

Oli McBurnie took to Twitter to express his delight for Allan McGregor after Rangers confirmed on their official website that the 36-year-old had rejoined the club on a two-year deal.

McGregor, who was named as Hull's player of the year last season, previously made 278 appearances for Rangers across 10 years before leaving the club in 2012.

He played all 46 league games as the Tigers finished 18th.

Rangers yesterday announced the signing of Scott Arfield from Burnley as the first import of Steven Gerrard's reign a Ibrox.

Gerrard said of McGregor: 'He is a vastly experienced goalkeeper who we feel can add to the options available to us now.

The 36-year-old Scotland global keeper was out of contract at Hull and knocked back the offer of an extension.

McGregor said: "I can't keep the smile off my face". He has won lots of silverware for this club and has shone at the highest level in Europe'.

"Did I hope? Obviously when time goes by you think it might not happen and you just enjoy your football elsewhere, but once you know that there's a wee sniff that it could happen then it's exciting".

The 35-cap Scotland global won three league titles, a hat-trick of Scottish Cups and five League Cup titles during his first Rangers stint.

McGregor added: "We need to make this place a fortress where nobody wants to come. If you keep doing that, that's what wins you titles". Despite his advancing years, he has been a fantastic performer for Hull this past season, and it would be little surprise if Steven Gerrard is planning to use the veteran as his first-choice stopper next term.
