"Instead, you will be placed against other self-selected competitors making this the ultimate test of survival", said the developer on Epic's website.

Placements in this limited time mode will be specially tracked and determine rewards you receive at the end of the event. As with any good ranked mode, there will be a leaderboard players can check to see how they stack up against the competition, and once the game mode ends next week, Epic will hand out rewards to the top 100 players. Not bad! But it's not exactly free money, because you will have to put in some decent hours to complete 50 matches in under five days. 2nd to 4th place yields 25,000 of the in-game currency, while 5th to 50th get 13,500.

There are some pretty substantial prizes to those that can place themselves in the top 100.

The game files for Fortnite have folders for each game mode. Second to fourth places will earn 25,000 V-Bucks each.

So, if you think you're a good Fortnite player, this is your chance to prove it and possibly earn some in-game cash for your effort.

All the standard rules and match regulations of Solo mode apply here. Considering Solo Showdown is only available from today, May 17, until May 21, that doesn't give you all that much time to squeeze in 50 matches. Eastern, 7:00 a.m. Pacific.

Aside from Jetpacks, the aforementioned datamine also possibly uncovered even more content to come to Fortnite during Season 4, with a Competitive Mode on the way, as well as a slew of new skins, pickaxes, and gliders.

For once, there won't be any toxicity to worry about in a game's competitive mode: Fortnite players can't speak to each other while they're in a solo game, and there's no teammates to yell at you if you don't win as a duo or squad.
