Battlefield V Will Not Include a Premium Pass

Battlefield 5

Battlefield 5

Battlefield 5 made is grand debut today and, well, to be honest, it was kind of a disappointment.

Battlefield 5 will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. And even Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is going to have a battle royale mode (though the developer is cagey about quite how large it'll be). EA Access and Origin members will get access on October 11, a week ahead of the October 19th launch date. While the event lacked in terms of gameplay footage, we did get a decent amount of information. You will be able to experience the conflict through the eyes of the men and women of World War, in situations and environments ranging from the Norwegian resistance in freezing landscapes to a soldier in the arid North African theatre of war. It seems like a silly thing to get upset about as DICE doesn't appear to be creating a 100-percent historically accurate game, to begin with.

In addition to War Stories, Battlefield 5 will see both "new and classic" multiplayer modes.

A more recent return will be War Stories, the anthology of mini-campaigns introduced in Battlefield 1, which will once again be touching on real events and people in WWII. You'll play in a squad of up to four, cast in the role of a paratrooper.

As for any tidbits about characters or settings, we mostly have speculation.

Here are some high resolution screenshots from the game that reveal tantalising clues into Battlefield V's story line and game play. It sounds like Combined Arms will also have you scrounging for resources as you make it to objectives, raising the stakes further as you need to decide if you can push through or extract early.

Curiously, BFV doesn't seem to have a battle royale mode.

Overall, I have to admit I was a little disappointed in DICE's Battlefield 5 reveal. It just wasn't an exciting event. This means maps and modes will be free and cosmetics will be earned through gameplay. In fact, a whole lot of details, in general, weren't really talked about.

One other interesting point touched upon in the reveal last night was the inclusion of co-op.

"Battlefield V is a homecoming for DICE as a studio-a return to the era that came to define the Battlefield franchise". Hopefully, DICE redeems themselves at E3 next month.
