Dawnta Anthony Harris and Baltimore County police Officer Amy Caprio.

Police Chief Terrence Sheridan said at a news conference Tuesday that Officer Amy Caprio was smart, athletic and energetic.

The fallen officer has been identified as 29-year-old Amy Caprio.

Sheridan says a viewing for Caprio will take place Thursday followed by a funeral Friday. Sheridan says she was not found to have a gunshot wound. He has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder and will have a bail hearing Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

The ankle bracelet Harris was wearing Monday simply indicated whether he was inside or outside his home - it did not track his whereabouts, Shellenberger said.

Another suspect, 16-year-old Dawnta Anthony Harris, was arrested Monday.

The officer had worked for Baltimore County police for almost four years and had a bright future in law enforcement, Sheridan said.

"The dark will not hamper our investigation", Vinson vowed at a news briefing Monday evening.

He said as much while in police custody on Tuesday after being arrested near the scene, telling officers that he "drove at" Caprio when he saw her.

Authorities say a Baltimore County police officer who was fatally injured while investigating a suspicious vehicle had been on the force for nearly four years.

According to probable cause statements obtained Wednesday, Harris identified Ward, Matthews and Genius as the three subjects responsible for the burglary. They say Genius initially declined to give a statement, and later objected to being charged with murder.

Police expect to announce the charges against the three other teens- ages 15, 16, and 17 - tomorrow morning, said Officer Jennifer Peach, a department spokeswoman. All four suspects were wanted for burglaries in the area, according to officials.

She was responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle when she found Harris at the wheel of the auto.

According to court documents, the person who called 911 to report the suspicious vehicle said there was a black Jeep Wrangler "near her home and that three suspicious suspects got out of it and were walking around homes".

Allegedly he told a County detective he had been waiting in the driver's seat of the vehicle, while others were in the process of robbing a home.

"She exited her vehicle, ordered the driver out of his auto", Sheridan said Tuesday at a news conference.

Shortly after the altercation, police arrested a 16-year-old male suspected of playing a role in the incident. The name of the suspect and charges will be released after a court hearing.

The records don't list an attorney for Harris, and attempts to reach people believed to be his family members were not immediately successful. He was scheduled to appear before a judge at a Towson courthouse Tuesday afternoon.

Police backed by aircraft and trained dogs scoured a greater Baltimore suburb into the early hours Tuesday, seeking suspects believed armed and unsafe after the death of a female officer.

The officer's death stunned the quiet, residential neighborhood, said Baltimore County Councilman David Marks, who lives nearby. "And then I get a call... the officer stops by at work and is like 'Tim come to the hospital right away'".

Resident Tony Kurek told The Associated Press his adult son was outside in the family's yard Monday afternoon when the son saw the officer with her gun drawn, confronting someone in a Jeep. He said he left the Jeep where officers later found it.

The son, who did not wish to be named, is a volunteer firefighter.

Kurek's neighbor, Dahle Amendt, said he had just settled into his recliner for a rest when he heard a woman's voice outside his house in the leafy neighborhood of single-family homes.
