Fashion designer Kate Spade found dead, police say

Medical examiner vehicles park outside the front entrance to the Park Avenue apartment of designer Kate Spade in NY, U.S. June 5, 2018.

In the same statement to the Daily News, Saffo said Spade was ready to get help, but was also anxious about the image of her brand if she did.

"I grew up in the Midwest, where you have to have it (a fashion item) because you like it, not because you're supposed to have it", she told the AP in 2004. Law enforcement sources are now saying that the future of the Spade marriage was being debated, as husband Andy Spade wanted a divorce and Kate did not. She launched a new fashion brand in 2007 Frances Valentine after leaving Kate Spade New York.

After briefly attending the nearby University of Kansas, Ms. Spade transferred to Arizona State University. Saffo contacted The Star to say that the story had misspelled Spade's childhood nickname, Katy. And that only contributed to the sense of shock and loss in the industry upon hearing the news Tuesday that Spade had apparently taken her own life at 55. She and her husband had sold their company for enough money to live a luxurious life.

The American fashion designer was found dead in her Manhattan apartment on June 5, 2018. The 55-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Now would you really go into someone else's office and say, 'Hey, hey, hey, hey, I've got to tell you something?' No, you'd say, 'Call me when you have a second.' So I've had to learn to be as respectful". "Please!'", Saffo said. "I know she perhaps had a plan, but she insisted she did not".

Saffo added that the stress associated with her brand "may have flipped the switch where she eventually became full-on manic-depressive". I have worn her clothes many, many times.

"I'd spoken with them on the phone (not telling them exactly who the patient would be)", Saffo said. They agreed to fly in and talk with her and take her with them to the treatment center. She went on to win a Golden Globe for her role in the celebrated Amazon series, which made her late aunt "insanely proud".

First daughter Ivanka Trump, a fellow New Yorker with a clothing and accessories line, wrote on Twitter that Spade's death was "a painful reminder that we never truly know another's pain or the burden they carry". "I asked her why and she said, 'Because I want to design". Her company, Kate Spade New York, has more than 140 retail shops and outlet stores across the country, as well as more than 175 stores internationally.

The couple divorced in 1972, but the family remained close, according Mr. Brosnahan, who said he talked to Katy, as she was known to family and friends, nearly daily. Together in 1993, Kate and Andy created the successful (and much coveted) Kate Spade handbag brand, before her last name was actually Spade. "Nothing ever came of it".

Citing law-enforcement sources, TMZ reported that the note said: "Bea - I have always loved you".

Following Spade's death, there has been multiple reports of troubles in her life.
