Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir in the next 24 hours, according to reports.

The 24-year-old Lyon captain has been one of Reds manager Jurgen Klopp's prime summer transfer targets and has his heart set on a move to Anfield.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has a reputation for being a tough negotiator, and Friday is emerging as a key day in talks as Liverpool move to get the deal completed before the weekend.

Naby Keita has joined from RB Leipzig after a £66m deal was agreed last summer and Fabinho joined from Monaco last week in a deal worth around £39m.

Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas is notoriously hard to negotiate with but he's reportedly had a change of heart just days before the World Cup kicks off. "The deal will certainly not be closed during the World Cup and I don't think there will be any change before the World Cup. (We) have not set a base price because we have not discussed this yet".

Didier Deschamps' team play the United States in Lyon on Saturday in their final warm-up game before the finals.

The France global will become Liverpool's second signing of the summer after the arrival of Fabinho from Monaco.

Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are also reportedly interested in the French global - but Liverpool are now in the driving seat.
