The study found that suicide rates rose in men and women and across all age and ethnic groups, propelled by mental illness, substance use, financial hardship and relationship problems. "The conversation about firearms and suicide doesn't have to be a debate about the Second Amendment".

So, in order to get to treatment, you have to, A, increase the mental health resources upstream as far as possible, and, B, you have to destigmatize seeking treatment and receiving treatment.
