A couple days ago, Real Madrid central defender and team captain Sergio Ramos hit back at all the criticism that he's received since his collision with Mohamed Salah in the Champions League final which resulted in a serious injury to the Liverpool and Egypt star.

Salah said he does expect to be fit for Egypt's World Cup opener against Uruguay on June 15 but he feared the worst when he first went down in the Champions League final.

"We've had good news from our doctor - we hope he will be with us before Uruguay", revealed Cuper.

"[Laughs]. He has great experience, he is a good coach and he helps us improve our performance".

"The pressure was to qualify for the World Cup".

Without their star man, Egypt were beaten 3-0 by Belgium after goals from Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard and Marouane Fellaini.

Egypt should have taken the lead in the 23rd minute when Mohamed Abdelshafy swung in an enticing cross from the left, but Marwan Mohsen, unmarked in the middle, headed wide a chance Salah likely would have scored. The Premier League's top scorer has been named in Egypt's squad for the tournament in Russian Federation and coach Hector Cuper badly needs him.

Also playing on Wednesday were Panama, whose preparations ended on a low note as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat by Norway after an early goal by Joshua King.

"Now I'm feeling better", Salah told the Spanish daily.

Egypt and Nigeria continued their recent poor form in World Cup warm-up games on Wednesday ahead of their bids to become the first African side to reach the semi-finals of the global showpiece event.

"Egypt are so different without Salah but they still performed well with compact lines. Their playing style is close to that of Tunisia", Hazard said.

He responded: 'He sent me a message, but I never told him it was "okay"'.

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez also paid tribute to Salah.

Ramos was heavily criticised for his role in the incident, but he said things had "been blown out of all proportion" and that he had exchanged messages with Salah, who had told him everything was OK.
