PUBG Corp. Announces 50 Million Copies Sold, 400 Million Players in Total

PUBG juggernaut hits 400 million users, and for a limited time, players can get the PC version for $19.99

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, nicknamed PUBG for short, is a very similar game. In a statement, publisher PUBG Corporation said: "Over four-hundred million total players worldwide have played PUBG across all platforms (Steam, kakao, DMM, Xbox One, Mail.Ru, iOS and Android) to date, engaging more than 227 million players monthly, making it one of the most played games in the world".

The solution? A Fortnite Battle Pass-style system. That's for the full game, although the offer is only available for a limited time - until July 5 - so you want to act sooner rather than later. This is a more compact environment, which should make for tense battles, and a new weapon will be made available in conjunction with the fresh map.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is getting a paid, timed event called the Event Pass where players complete objectives to earn unlockables.

The bigger news here for those who haven't played PUBG yet or are on the fence about purchasing it is that the game is finally going on sale.

In addition to the low price, another great reason to jump in to PUBG this week is because the new Sanhok island map is officially launching on June 22nd. The trade-off is that Battle Passes require a lot of time investment to earn everything, and even then players might not level a Pass up high enough to get everything. You'll unlock items by completing missions and "leveling up" your pass, and it sounds like there will be plenty of missions to complete. If you haven't paid for the pass, you can temporarily unlock numerous items (and earn one special item permanently). It'll also include "dozens" of daily and weekly missions, some of which are specific to the tropical-themed map. It's unclear if the Event Pass will tie into the Crate system at all, either by rewarding Crates, Keys, or currency, but it wouldn't be surprising if it did.
