Apple plans to ramp up AirPods production by working with Foxconn, people familiar with the arrangement said.

Apple is going to improve the audio devices it offers significantly next year with a new high-end AirPods, a new HomePod, and studio-quality over-ear headphones.

Each of the items could hit the shelves by 2019.

The pricier model is expected to feature noise-cancelling technology, as well as water resistance.

On top of the over-ear headphones, Apple is also supposedly developing higher-end AirPods featuring noise-cancellation system, with the Cupertino giant reportedly considering Cirrus Logic to provide that capability for the next-generation earbuds.

Bloomberg also reports that the HomePod will be updated as well, but nothing has been said regarding creatures other than Apple is has been discussing internally nether it intends to change suppliers away from Inventec. They asked not to be identified talking about unreleased products. Also underworks is a wireless Airpods charging case that would work with the upcoming AirPower charger. Apple originally meant to introduce the headphones by the end of 2018, but has faced development challenges, and is now targeting a launch as early as next year.

As a result, we are relieved the new lightning EarPods are so much better than their predecessors.

They're surprisingly good at staying put within your ear, and the battery life is commendable. The price will be higher than the current AirPods ($160). They're flawless for commuters, exercisers, and everyone in between.

Another improvement to the audio accessory will be an upgrade to its access to Apple's Siri digital assistant. However, users won't be able to swim wearing them. Two years later, Apple bought headphone maker and streaming-music company Beats for $3 billion, its largest acquisition.

Apple is revamping its headphone offerings in ways that ought to get audiophiles excited.

Apple expects to launch another version of the HomePod by next year, Bloomberg said. Unfortunately, there are no details about what features it might boast.

Apple reportedly wanted to launch the headphones by the end of 2018 but development challenges have pushed the product back to early 2019. Recent rumours claimed, however, that Apple could be planning a more affordable, Beats-branded speaker, in a bid to help it boost its share of the market from just six per cent.

Apple didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
