Shenmue I & II To Launch Next Month On PC And Consoles

When the Shenmue re-releases were announced for PC earlier this year, Sega tentatively promised "modernized features" without naming specifics.

Polygon reported back in April that the PC version will have "fully scalable screen resolutions, choice of modern or classic control schemes [i.e., D-pad control or analog stick], PC graphics options, an updated user interface, and the option to enjoy either the original Japanese or English voiceovers". A physical edition is also available for pre-order, and will feature a double-sided poster and reversible artwork. Fans will be happy to know that they will be able to play through the first two Shenmue games when they release simultaneously on August 21.

At the time of publishing, if you visit this Microsoft store page, you'll see Shenmue I & Shenmue II listed as releasing on 21st August 2018.

Shenmue I & II will, apparently, launch August 20 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The original story can be read down below, along with a new trailer, confirming the release date. The first game in the franchise originally appeared on the Sega Dreamcast back in 2000 and has never appeared on any other platform since.

Shenmue II arrived in 2001 on Dreamcast and was ported to the original Xbox a year later.

We'll have to wait and see how Yu Suzuki's Shenmue III - backed to the tune of $6 million - will end his epic revenge saga.
