Giuliani 'Close To Determining' That Trump Won't Sit Down With Mueller

Trump lawyers call Comey 'Machiavellian' in note to Mueller

Michael Cohen, former personal attorney to Donald Trump, has traded giving legal advice to the president for seeking legal advice of his own. When asked if he's concerned about Cohen potentially cooperating, Giuliani claimed he was not.

Davis' hiring came just days after Cohen told ABC's George Stephanopoulos on "Good Morning America" that his allegiance is to his family.

Giuliani also said he had "zero" concern that Michael Cohen, a former Trump attorney who represented him for a decade while he was a NY real estate mogul and into the first year of his presidency, might provide prosecutors damaging information about Trump. He also signaled a willingness to cooperate with federal prosecutors, even if what he tells them or special counsel Robert Mueller, could imperil the president.

"I don't agree with those who demonize or vilify the FBI", Cohen was quoted as saying. "Nonetheless, the agents were respectful, courteous and professional".

Cohen gave an interview two weeks ago to ABC's George Stephanopoulos, which CNN's sources said was meant to highlight two areas he wanted to distinguish himself from the president.

Cohen's attorney, however, urged the president and his lawyers to buckle up.

Trump has said he does not see Cohen turning against him. When pressed, Guiliani maintained there was no wrongdoing by the president, and that the truth could therefore not harm him. Cohen switched up his legal team recently after his previous counsel completed an extensive review of documents seized from Cohen's home, office and Manhattan hotel room during an April raid. "It's hard to believe given all the things that have been shown about how tainted this investigation is".

Kasowitz says Comey stonewalled the president's request to clear his name in order to "sustain an investigative cloud" over his head that would make it hard for Trump to fire him. Instead, it casts in a negative light actions that Comey has said he carefully reasoned and that he has vigorously defended in his book and interviews.

"I want to answer". "I have debriefed all their witnesses", he said.

[When] Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz released a report detailing anti-Trump texts between members of the team including Mueller's former number two, Peter Strzok. Cohen responded that if he is charged with anything, he would defer to his new lawyer in the case, Guy Petrillo, for advice. Kasowitz and Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow did not immediately return messages, and former Trump attorney John Dowd declined to comment.

But some analysts have drawn comparisons between Cohen's story and that of former Trump aide Michael Flynn, who was charged by Mueller's team a year ago. "Sorry, I don't see Michael doing that despite the disgusting Witch Hunt and the dishonest media!" "He has no evidence of, nor was he involved in anything untoward, with the president".

"I will not be a punching bag as part of anyone's defense strategy", Cohen said.

He also told ABC he did not agree with Trump's recent tweet repeating Vladimir Putin's claim that Russian Federation did not interfere in the election.
