It measures 245 x 175 x 8.3 mm and weighs about 512 grams.

The pre-orders of Surface Go will begin on July 10 and it will start shipping from the next month. While I have not fully tested the battery on the Surface Go, I would put real-world usage at around 6 hrs based on my experience with other Surface devices.

In a bid to revive itself in the budget-friendly tablet market, Microsoft has announced the Surface Go tablet. However, the Intel Pentium Gold Processor 4415Y (which sits just below Core M) should give you plenty of pep for surfing the web, reviewing and marking up documents and checking email. This means it'll be more than good enough for browsing the web, watching Netflix, and putting together a PowerPoint presentation.

It runs an Intel Pentium processor. There will be configurations with 4GB RAM / 64GB storage at $399, and 8GB RAM / 128GB storage at $549 (I'm not sure if the storage is eMMC or SSD). The battery should last for about nine hours according to Microsoft, which is more than decent for a tablet.

How much does the Surface Go cost?

In terms of connectivity, Microsoft has stated that it comes with the Surface Connect charging and docking port alongside a USB Type-C connector "for data, video and charging".

If you noticed a distinct lack of USB Type A connector, that isn't a mistake. With the Surface Connect port, you can power two external 2K monitors at once, so this slate can pull double duty as a full desktop PC. More than anything, it's the low price that makes this one a likely iPad killer. It does have a headphone jack, though.

First off, you're getting Windows. So far this year, Microsoft has bought Chalkup, a classroom management software, and is integrating its features into an education version of Microsoft Teams, a group collaboration tool.

To appreciate the fighting strength of the Surface Go, you'll have to consider the whole package and where it stands against the competition.

With a touch-sensitive screen, the Surface Pro has a 3: 2 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1800x1200 pixels.

In both cases, Microsoft is employing the same sales pitch as the rest of the Surface lineup. The Surface Go Signature Type Cover offers laptop-class typing and has a trackpad that's larger than the one on the Surface Pro's Type Cover.

Below is a pricing breakdown of each version of the tablet, keep in mind the commercial SKU ships with Windows 10 Pro which is why there is a price difference. Too bad the bezels around the screen are so chunky they make the Surface Go's design look a bit dated.

You can also kit out the Surface Go with lots of quite pricey accessories.

When will the Surface Go be on sale?

True to the rumors, Microsoft has officially revealed the latest addition to its Surface family in the form of Surface Go.

It's been rumored for a long time now that Microsoft was working on a tinier Surface: Microsoft released the 10.8-inch Surface 3 back in 2015, but there hasn't been anything even sort of like it since.
