Third seed Muguruza joined second seed Caroline Wozniacki, fourth seed Sloane Stephens, fifth seed Elina Svitolina, sixth seed Caroline Garcia and eighth seed Petra Kvitova on the way out, along with five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova.

Latvian qualifier Gulbis will face Japan's Kei Nishikori in his first Wimbledon fourth round appearance on Monday.

Frances Tiafoe blamed stomach problems for derailing his bid to become the youngest US man in Wimbledon's fourth round since 1990.

"Body just didn't feel right", Tiafoe said. "I just came here to try to do the best tournament possible", he said.

"It's the third round of Wimbledon. I just want to feel free and enjoy the match", she added, about how she prepared herself for the tie.

Novak Djokovic celebrates his win over Kyle Edmund.

Rafael Nadal (2), Spain, def. Alex De Minaur, Australia, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.

Djokovic was furious when he was denied a break of serve in the seventh game of the fourth set on Centre Court when the ball bounced twice before Edmund hit what was ruled a victor. I asked the chair umpire how is it possible he plays that shot if it didn't bounce twice. Secondly, Edmund touched the net after his chase.

Gulbis, now ranked at 138, reached the Roland Garros semi-finals in 2014 famously demolishing Roger Federer on the way.

At 22, Khachanov is the youngest Russian in the fourth round since Mikhail Youzhny in 2002.

Hsieh faced a tough first round match up against the 30th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, but after a battle lasting over two hours the Chinese advanced to the second round a 6-4 4-6 6-3 victor. The only past champion at the grass-court tournament left is Serena Williams.

Hsieh, a former doubles number one, reckons the demolition of the seeds is a good omen.

Kerber of Germany will next face 56th-ranked Belinda Bencic of Switzerland. It doesn't matter if I win or I lose. The record 23-time Grand Slam champion, who has won the title at the All England Club seven times, is the 25th seed.

World No. 1 Simona Halep crashed out of Wimbledon following a stunning 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 upset by Taiwan's Hsieh Su Wei in the third round on Saturday.

It means nine of the top 10 women's seeds have been knocked out before the fourth round, with seventh seed Karolina Pliskova the only one still standing.

Halep had a match point with Hsieh serving at 4-5 in the third set, but Hsieh fended it off by leaning into a darting backhand down the line. The Romanian had two more break points at 6-5 but couldn't take advantage.

Halep broke back with a pummeling forehand for 3-3 but dropped serve again at 4-4 when she netted at the end of a baseline duel and Hsieh then calmly held serve to take the contest into a decider.

At the start of the year she flummoxed Spanish big-hitter Garbine Muguruza at the Australian Open and tied former champion Angelique Kerber in knots before running out of gas.

"I need to play really well to win a couple more games".

The 13th-seeded Canadian was the runner-up at the All England Club in 2016, losing to Andy Murray in the final.

It might actually be a blessing in disguise though because the 32-year-old Taiwanese player is making quite a habit of catching some of the games biggest names off guard. When Hsieh faulted on her first serve, the crowd let go an audible, "Ahhhhh!" I was training and missed it.
