A Hundred Classmates Endorse Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh

"As a point of comparison, look at Bob Casey who is also up for re-election in the Trump-won state of Pennsylvania".

President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee is kicking his closed-door meetings with senators into high gear Wednesday, all as the parameters of the fight over his nomination start to settle in around him.

"I have Trump nomination BINGO!" he exclaimed. The NRA's six million members and tens of millions of supporters who voted for President Trump have ensured that the framers' vision of constitutional freedom will have a strong voice on the court for decades to come. The court's oldest remaining justices, two liberals and a conservative who are 85, 79 and 70, haven't suggested they're going anywhere and appear in fine health.

During his introduction Monday night, Kavanaugh emphasized his belief that judges "must be independent" and "interpret the law, not make the law".

Democrats, who are in the minority, may not be able to block him, but they argue that Kavanaugh would shift the court further to the right, potentially threatening access to abortion and undermining the Affordable Care Act.

"With his pick of Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump has done everything in his power to push the Supreme Court into the world of ultra-conservatism", said Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum. Shortly after, Democrats said they would not support this nominee. The South Carolina Republican said afterward that the days of a more balanced court are over with Kavanaugh's nomination pushing it in a more conservative direction.

Republicans have a 51-49 majority in the Senate.

If confirmed by the Senate, Brett Kavanaugh would replace Anthony Kennedy, the justice he clerked for 25 years ago.

However, the news of this endorsement was undermined by another letter signed by Kavanaugh's fellow alumnus of Yale Law School. Susan Collins (R-ME) signaled she's not opposed to Kavanaugh.

"And I would say being very strict on interpretation of the Constitution and things like that, that's what impresses me, that's what ought to impress most people, because that's what the Constitution writers meant was that judges were supposed to interpret law", he added. Manchin has. But Donnelly echoed Manchin when he said, "I work for the people of IN and I want them to have a voice IN this".

While Scalia's unexpected death in 2016 gave Obama a chance to nominate a third person to the court, Senate Republicans refused to give the Democrat's nominee, Merrick Garland, a hearing.

However, Brewer said she does not think McCain will make it back to the Senate in order to vote on the Kavanaugh confirmation.

Since Trump announced his choice for the court, both Nixon and Cuomo have received endorsements from pro-choice groups.
