Conte delivered trophies in his two years at Chelsea but also brought controversy.

Chelsea have an interest in Higuain and he is rated by Maurizio Sarri, who is set to take over at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are expected to announce Sarri's appointment on an initial two-year contract imminently - together with the signing of Italy worldwide midfielder Jorginho for a combined fee of €65 million (£57.5m) - after convincing Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis to release the 59-year-old from his contract. The Italian global was thought at one stage to be heading to Manchester City, but Sarri and Chelsea have managed to convince him to forego a season of Champions League football and move to West London instead.

Conte equalled the Premier League record for for consecutive wins (13), and the record number of wins in a season (30) when leading Chelsea to the title in 2016/17 season.

Chelsea football club are allegedly accusing Conte of breaching his contract after confirming the end of his employment on Friday morning.

Conte leaves with the best win percentage 65.1 per cent of any of Chelsea's managers in the Premier League era. He had been waiting since winning the FA Cup in May to resolve his future at Stamford Bridge, but difficulty in securing Sarri delayed the process.

Sarri's future has been up in the air since Napoli hired Carlo Ancelotti as their new coach in May.

However, while present players may have had issues with Conte, former Chelsea legend John Terry, who left after the league title winning campaign had nothing but praise for him.

This text will now form the basis of Chelsea's evidence against their former manager.
