Papa John's is getting sliced from the University of Louisville's stadium, university officials announced Friday.

Papa John's did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the report. He said the comment was taken out of context but that he nevertheless felt "sick" about the incident.

The university also plans to remove Schnatter's name from the Center for Free Enterprise at its business school. The training call was in regards to his comments on the National Football League's leadership over the national anthem protests by players. Several people told Friedland how inappropriate and hurtful his use of the word was. For the first three months of this year, the chain said a key sales figure fell 5.3 per cent in North America. The company's shares, which had fallen almost 5 percent Wednesday, rebounded 11 percent Thursday after the company announced Schnatter's resignation as chairman.

Schnatter has resigned as chairman of the board at Papa John's and as a trustee at the University of Louisville, where the school also has a contract to call the football stadium Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
