Hudson, who made her Broadway debut in the recent revival of The Color Purple, will take on the role of Grizabella, but the roles that Swift, Corden, and McKellen have been tapped for have not yet been announced. Weber adapted it from one of T.S. Eliot's books of children's poems, and created memorable feline characters such as Grizabella, the cat down on her luck, and Old Deuteronomy, the ancient cat respected by even humans.
