Cam Newton, Kelvin Benjamin Have Awkward Exchange Before Panthers-Bills Preseason Game

In brief action Thursday for both players, Newton went 6-for-9 passing for 84 yards, while Benjamin caught four passes for 59 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown.

Cam Newton and Kelvin Benjamin addressed their feud in what seems to be the most awkward manner possible.

Buffalo receiver Kelvin Benjamin, who was traded from Carolina three minutes before the 2017 trade deadline, made his return to Bank of America Stadium for the first time since a few choice words were spoken.

All this beef comes from an interview posted by The Athletic where Benjamin says he wishes he was never drafted by the Panthers and also said that he would have done a lot better if he was drafted by any other quarterback. At mid-field prior to the start of the contest, Newton approached Benjamin while he was speaking with former teammates and coaches. I don't know, man ... It's not clear what they said to each other, but the interaction did not end in the friendliest of ways. We have a lot of respect for our opponents, No. 1, and everyone in the league.

Panthers tight end Greg Olsen called Benjamin's barbs "weird", adding Sunday (via "Things didn't work out here for him".

Newton did his best to sidestep the comments by Benjamin.
