Manchester United kicked off the new Premier League season with a 2-1 win over Leicester at Old Trafford.

After describing himself as more of a head coach than a manager nowadays, the Red Devils boss refused to brand his side title challengers just yet.

"I am [also] very pleased for Luke", Mourinho said.

But due to Mourinho's lack of options Pogba was asked if he could play - and as you would expect, he said yes.

'When he started, I don't know what he was doing actually, just moving up towards the ball, you thought, "Oh no, start running quickly, you're not going to get enough power in it",' the United legend said on Sky Sports.

"It was very good to go out there, to feel the fans supporting us and to play at home in Old Trafford is always good", he told MUTV". They (Leicester) spent more money than us, so in the Premier League we must get used to teams with players of the same quality that we have.

United's performance on Friday failed to build on Paul Pogba's early penalty, as they were dominated by Leicester for spells before Luke Shaw scored an all-important second goal in the closing minutes. "All my players did not have 90 minutes in their legs and bodies".

'But he was ready and practised lots of penalties during the World Cup'.

Pogba responded with a strong all-round performance, as well as scoring the opening goal after what I have to say was a very odd run-up for his penalty. "We want to go up".

The Premier League match between Manchester United and Leicester will be broadcast on NBCSN. "I like challenges, I want to progress and win more trophies".

Matteo Darmian tested Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel at the near post early into a second half that United started with bundles of possession, but few clear-cut chances.

Nonetheless Mourinho was pleased with his team's display, singling out Pogba and Shaw for particular praise, and the overall spirit.

"I said that during preseason and it looked like I was saying something absolutely out of order, something insane, I repeat: Preseason is hard when you don't have your players to work, that's as simple as that".
