Claude Puel Brilliantly Trolled Manchester United Over Harry Maguire Transfer

"I just think for his development another season at Leicester, honing his craft within the Premier League, which is a different stage, different animal to the World Cup, I think it would be best for him from a personal standpoint for him".

The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the King Power Stadium, subject to the deal being given global clearance.

The Foxes suffered a 2-1 defeat in the top-flight opener at Old Trafford, with Jamie Vardy's late effort only proving to be a consolation after Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw had given United a two-goal lead.

It was a taste of what could have been, but Maguire was not fazed and impressed team-mate Chilwell with his display against United.

Maguire was one of the surprise stars of this summer's World Cup, playing a key role in England's run to the semi-finals.

"Unlucky? I think we were without the clinical edge needed to finish the good moves we had in the first half", Puel told Sky Sports.

Today Jose Mourinho was likely sat in his hotel room, ordering room service and shouting obscenities at Sky Sports news as Transfer Deadline Day quickly came and went and his mood wouldn't have been helped by Claude Puel trolling him.

The report adds that Jose Mourinho had been looking for a central defender in the transfer window but any move for Maguire was shut down by Leicester.

"We have another training session this afternoon and then we will make decisions about the squad".

He said: "I can confirm he is going to Manchester - but only for a couple of hours!" We lost Riyad [Mahrez], he was valuable for us but was important to keep all our best players, we want to keep a good ambition.

"We will see what happens in his future but I am happy to keep Harry with us and I'm happy with his attitude in general".
