Goals from Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw ensured victory over a team which Mourinho pointed out had "invested more than us". It's the last time I speak about it.

Shaw's second-half goal put Jose Mourinho's side in the driving seat at Old Trafford, and the defender has now admitted he wants to make this season as impacting as possible and become a global name.

"Paul was fantastic, his contribution was unbelievable", Mourinho said after taking his captain off late in the game.

But due to Mourinho's lack of options Pogba was asked if he could play - and as you would expect, he said yes.

"Martial didn't have a pre-season", said Mourinho, quoted by ESPN. "I think we are more the head coach than the manager", Mourinho told Sky Sports.

'With a great manager and great team-mates around me I think I've got the foundations to do that here at Manchester United'.

France global Pogba played, and scored, in the World Cup final just 26 days ago but with options thin on the ground he barely hesitated when invited to take to the field against the Foxes.

The France star, who had arrived for training only earlier this week following his extended post-World Cup break, did more than what was expected of him in the opening encounter.

Pogba has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks, amid suggestions that he was disappointed by Mourinho's faint praise of his achievement as he played a pivotal role in helping France win the World Cup in Russian Federation this summer.

But Pogba also had his say after the game, writing on Instagram: "I'll always give my best for the fans and my teammates no matter what's going on".

"It was not a hard decision [to start Pogba], the decision was down to him".

"Of course the performance wasn't the best, but it's better to start like this and finish well than start very well and finish bad".

"We thought maximum 60 minutes but he managed (more than) 80".

He got that from his team's display at Old Trafford, from the way they started so well to how they saw the game out at the end.

Leicester forced attack after attack, but each one failed to bring the foxes equal. In his debut in the Premier League, youngster James Maddison, who signed this summer from Norwich city, looked very impressive.
