Why is Serena Williams banned from wearing black catsuit at French Open?

(I know, I know.) French Open president Bernard Guidicelli told Tennis Magazine that he believed that the community had become too lax where garments are concerned.

Serena Williams may be gearing up for her return to the U.S. Open on Monday, after taking a break from last year's tournament to give birth to her daughter. Everyone must respect the game and the place'.

That being said, her fans have been slamming Giudicelli's statement, but Serena's response was very polite.

Aside from making her feel like a warrior and giving a nod to the biggest superhero movie of all time, she also wore her catsuit for health reasons.

According to Giudicelli, Williams will have to dress more conservatively for future French Opens.

This comment drew a sharp rebuke from Shonda Rimes, who suggested Guidicelli needed to spend more time on his own wardrobe. A new spot for Nike from Wieden & Kennedy seamlessly merges archival footage of a young Williams and her father on those courts with scenes of the adult Williams in action.

The 23-time grand slam victor told the Guardian back in may that the suit made her feel like "a superhero" and a "warrior princess". After giving birth, Williams suffered a series of blood clots in her lungs and almost died.

Williams, always ahead of the game, says this wouldn't have even been an issue anytime soon because "when it comes to fashion, you don't want to be a repeat offender". "Although we designed it way before the movie, but still, it kind of reminds me of that", she said earlier this year.

"I have been wearing trousers in general a lot when I play, so I can keep the blood circulation going", she added. Williams said she's found other things to wear.

"Lots of people have called this my 'comeback, '" she wrote in a prior post, referring to the U.S. Open.

In wake of the new dress code, Nike shows support for Serena with a message on social media that reads, "You can take the superhero out of her costume, but you can never take away her superpowers".
