Hurricane Florence, the Category 2 storm heading straight for my parents' SC house, has the country on high alert.

Florence is now a powerful Category 3 storm with winds of 125mph, and is expected to strengthen before making landfall along the Carolina coast later this week.

"The National Hurricane Center forecasts additional strengthening for Florence before it reaches the coastline of North Carolina and SC early Friday, Sept. 14", NASA wrote in the description of the video.

Trouble began brewing last week, when three hurricanes-Florence, Isaac, and Helene-starting churning up the North Atlantic.

The massive storm was captured on a high-definition camera from the International Space Station as it barreled across the Atlantic Ocean with its 130 miles per hour winds. Florence is expected to remain a Category 4 storm when it makes landfall. NASA shared photos Wednesday showing the unsafe storm from the International Space Station.

This photo provided by NASA shows Hurricane Florence from the International Space Station on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, as it threatens the U.S. East Coast.

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA's Terra satellite, meanwhile, snapped a truly awesome photo of the whirlwind, creeping closer to the American south.

According to Wednesday morning's update from the National Hurricane Center, Florence could park off the coast of the Carolinas on Friday, bringing damaging winds and even extreme storm surges to coastal areas.
