Lloris, who was this week fined £50,000 (A$91,140) and handed a 20-month ban after pleading guilty to drink-driving, had hoped to be fit to face Liverpool but a statement on Tottenham's official website confirmed he is expected to be out for "several weeks".

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a double injury blow ahead of a key week with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and midfielder Dele Alli ruled out for Saturday's (Sep 15) Premier League clash with Liverpool and a Champions League trip to Inter Milan on Tuesday.

The head coach added: "He's the first that regrets everything, and all that happened yesterday is not good". Everyone can make a mistake, he made a mistake and he is suffering.

"He's punishing himself, but of course we're not God, that we can judge people". That is important. And, of course, now it is a massive lesson for him; a life lesson. "In the end, its 11 vs 11 on the pitch and we need to try to be better".

But Sherwood told the London Evening Standard: "I don't think it would be a disruption to the players or management at all, I think Mauricio [Pochettino] has made it quite obvious that he's not using it as an excuse".

Tiredness could be an issue for Son, who played eight games in 26 days for his country, but his return after playing just ten minutes of Tottenham's league season so far will be greatly received by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino rejected suggestions Kane is worn out, stating it is only a matter of time before the Tottenham striker is back to his goalscoring best.

"It's our fifth season at Tottenham and if someone knows him really well I think we do. It's not a situation that worries us".

The Sun reports that the 31-year-old was willing to quit his role as leader of the team, but Pochettino does not see the need for change.
