Browns' Gordon to miss Saints game with hamstring injury

These aren't the same Browns that Saints have faced before

The Browns should have a severely-limited slate of options at receiver without Josh Gordon, so it'll fall to slot specialist and New Orleans native Jarvis Landry to do the most damage. He had been ruled out for their Week 2 matchup against the New Orleans Saints due to a hamstring injury. He missed training camp this summer to receive counseling and treatment for drug and alcohol dependence.

The Browns also will be without starting linebacker Christian Kirksey (shoulder/ankle) and tight end Seth DeValve (hamstring) on Sunday. He practiced all week and was not listed on the injury report. Cleveland won't be in unfamiliar territory with Gordon on the sideline, though, as the 2012 Pro Bowler has missed 38 games since 2014.

Josh Gordon received countless chances the past six years from the Browns until the franchise finally reached the point where it felt it could no longer stick with the ultra-talented, troubled receiver.

In the Browns Week 1 loss, Gordon was targeted three times and had one reception for a touchdown.

The 27-year-old caught a game-tying, 17-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter against the Steelers, but Gordon was mostly used as a decoy. Factoring the off-the-field concerns into what was possibly going to be a diminished product due to the time away from the field and an inability to remain healthy undoubtedly played a part in the decision.

Jackson refused to elaborate on the situation this week, saying he and the coaching staff wanted to "move on".
