President Muhammadu Buhari has accepted the resignation of finance minister Mrs Kemi Adeosun

The former investment banker said she was issued with a certificate that she thought was genuine.

There has been no given reason on the decision of Adeosun stepping down from her position, although there has been an allegation of forging her NYSC discharge certificate.

President Muhammadu Buhari has thanked the immediate past minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun for her service to the country. Adeosun did not comment on the claims initially, prompting criticism from her opponents. I only wished she had done this earlier. "It was a decision she took and posterity will judge her positively for doing the honourable thing by resigning from office", the aide said. She also instituted a whistle-blower policy and helped push reforms to boost Nigeria's tax collection to increase non-oil revenue as the West African nation seeks to wean itself off oil.

Buhari also approved that the Minister of State Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, should oversee the ministry immediately.

Nigerian university students have to do a year of national service upon graduation as a way of ensuring that graduates contributed to Nigeria's development.

Nigerian graduates are not eligible for government work or many private jobs until they have completed the mandatory year of service.
