Hurricane Isaac has seriously weakened recently due to the wind shear in the Atlantic

Tropical Storm Isaac, which passed between the Caribbean island nations of Dominica and Martinique late Wednesday and early Thursday, is now moving nearly due west across the eastern Caribbean Sea.

Storm surges are one of a hurricane's most risky effects. Then on Sunday, as a weakening Florence moves away from our region, our winds will gradually weaken during the day, with some wraparound showers possible.

Tropical Storm Joyce formed late on Thursday and is never expected to affect land.

Sustained winds on Tuesday morning approached 110 miles per hour, making it a very strong Category 2 storm. Moving west at around 21mph, the storm is expected to continue on that track for the next few days before it comes into the central Caribbean Sea at the weekend.

N.H.C. said at 5:00 p.m. that the center of Tropical Storm Isaac was located near latitude 14.9 North, longitude 63.2 West. Isaac is moving toward the west near 16 miles per hour (26 km/h), and this general motion with a decrease in forward speed is expected for the next few days.

- Isaac is now a strong tropical storm over the Central Tropical Atlantic.

Tropical Storm Isaac is expected to produce up to 4 inches of rain, with isolated amounts up to 6 inches, across Martinique, Dominica, and Guadeloupe, especially over elevated terrain.

Subtropical Storm Joyce formed at 5PM Thursday with 45 miles per hour wind and is to the northwest of Helene.

The update said up to four inches of rain could be expected in some areas of the Azores, while up to two inches could follow in Scotland and western Ireland.

In some areas of southeastern North Carolina officials had measured rainfall totals exceeding 16 inches (41 centimeters), warning that some areas could see totals up to 40 inches.

Meanwhile, Caribbean Airlines has announced that due to Tropical Storm Isaac flights BW 434 BW 435 Port-of-Spain to St. Lucia will be affected and passengers are advised to contact its reservation offices for rebooking on the next available service. "This rainfall may cause life-threatening flash floods".
