Adult flu deaths are not tracked.

Medical providers say many people's misconceptions about the flu vaccine - including the belief it will give them the flu - may keep them from getting the shot. This is to help protect them against catching flu and developing serious complications. Still, 25 percent is better than zero protection, right? Foods like peanuts, citrus fruits, and vegetables all contain the important vitamins you need to stay healthy.

It eclipses the estimates for every flu season going back to the winter of 1976-1977.

AMAC suggests that the "myths" about the flu shot may have something to do with it.

According to the CDC, potential flu vaccine side effects can include soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given, a low-grade fever, and aches. A new vaccine must be designed every year to best match influenza viruses circulating in the previous season.

Helping to spread the message to get a flu shot is the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinics.

Those seniors who received the high dose vaccine "had 24% fewer influenza infections as compared to those who received the standard dose flu vaccine". It is the first line of defense in treating the flu. Only people with severe, life-threatening allergies to the vaccine or any of its ingredients should avoid the shot.

Cindy Volanti, human resources manager, told commissioners that the county has always provided the shots to retirees and part-time employees who do not have insurance through the county.

Faculty and staff also have the opportunity to get vaccinated at the Wellness Expo, scheduled for 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. on October 30.

However, stocking vaccines on-site in prenatal clinics is the best way to ensure that all pregnant women are vaccinated and reduce the incidence of pertussis among infants too young to be vaccinated, say these researchers. So many people caught the flu that some hospitals and pharmacies across the US ran out of antiviral drugs, Alabama declared a state of emergency and a school district in Arkansas closed all 10 of its schools.

Students can start combating the flu before they even get it.

Pregnant women should get offered the flu jab by their midwife. This year's flu shot does look promising though.

You are only entitled to a flu jab if you are in one of the groups outlined as vulnerable to the flu by the NHS regardless of if you have a cold. It does take one to two weeks for your immune system to protect you from the flu. Available vaccines target the spikes on the virus's outer shell, which are the parts that mutate the fastest.

The vaccine is considered the best available tool in fighting flu, but it's not flawless.
