Tom Hardy says his favourite scenes didn't make it into Venom

New Venom TV Spots Reveal a Terrible Friendship

New Venom TV Spots Reveal a Terrible Friendship

"There are like 30/40 minutes worth of scenes that aren't in this movie".

The Chicago Tribune also writes - with a certain disdain for the big Marvel and DC film-universe tentpoles - that a real mess of a movie is "so much more thrilling than any of the formulaic superhero movies that parade through multiplexes all year".

The life of Eddie Brock, played by Oscar nominee Tom Hardy, seems to be ideal with a celebrity status from his shining career as an investigative journalist. Tom Hardy stars as Spider-Man's arch-nemesis, in a movie without Spider-Man. A quote from the comic goes, "You're Eddie Brock". Alas, that iteration went bust when Columbia Pictures/Sony obtained the rights and released Raimi's Spider-Man to acclaim and massive box office success in 2002.

Eddie Brock, who is investigating the criminal activities of Life Foundation, somehow gets entangled, literally, with the Venom symbiote.

Will Spider-Man make a cameo in the film? Either way, I laughed a lot. "They see straight through your fantasies". It's far from the basic Marvel film. "Alright, I hate to break it to you". You can decide whether to detour from your objective to fight low-level street crime or stick to pursuing the more eclectic villains from Spider-Man's rogues' gallery. What else do you rubes want? She ultimately felt that Hardy's "committed performance" in Venom just couldn't "overcome a painful script and indecisive direction".

We can't be sure based on this scene alone just how the Carnage symbiote will come into play or how Kasady will bond with it. Others thought the whole thing was a total disaster.

IndieWire invokes the film's own central dynamic to reflect the two choices that each filmgoer has when viewing this odd film: "Reject the parasite or let it take you over". Exhausted of the same old bland Marvel Cinematic Universe offerings? These characters interacted in the comics forever. The first reactions to Venom are in, and they're kind of mixed at best.

Forbes: It's not "good", but it has a self-satirical edge, and Tom Hardy seems to be trying to be the first actor to win an Oscar and a Razzie for the same performance. And aside from a handful of references and a mostly predictable sequel tease at the end, there's little in the way of connection to any larger world.

Led by Hardy as disgraced journalist Eddie Brock who fuses with an alien symbiote during his investigation into the shady Life Foundation, Venom now sits at a 30 percent on Rotten Tomatoes - a figure that has continued to rise and fall as the aggregator accounts for more reviews. Whatever the case may be, it certainly has all moral dilemmas stripped of its essence (which is probably the greatest crime filmmakers can commit when bringing this fan-favorite character to the silver screen) with Venom quipping that he can fix all of the injured bodies he is leaving in his path. Tom Hardy gets that, and it is a testament to his talent that he manages to imbue his back-and-forth with a voice in his head and some CGI work with genuine charm and comic timing.
