A voting body comprised of more than 1,000 artists, historians, and music industry insiders will decide on the inductees, to be formally announced this December. The top five in the public poll forms one ballot, which is weighted the same as the rest of the submitted ballots.

Performers, composers and musicians-become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording - which is why it takes so long for some artists to be included. Other notable artists who didn't make the ballot include Jane's Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, the New York Dolls, Bad Brains, Black Flag, Ice-T, Hole, Faith No More, Soundgarden, Primus, Smashing Pumpkins and Alice In Chains.

They'll be inducted at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 29, 2019, in a ceremony that will be broadcast live on SiriusXM's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Radio station. Ticket on-sale information will be announced in January.
