Cora suggested that Price's short outing in the ALDS against the Yankees was owed to the opponent.

This game will go against the Sunday Night Football showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots. I really don't believe in stuff like that. He also noted that Price pitched well out of the bullpen past year, making two appearances with 6 2/3 innings of scoreless relief against Houston.

The first-year manager said Price, the loser in the Red Sox only defeat in the ALDS, is still in line to start Game 2. And whatever I need to do to help us do that, I'm fine with.

Kimbrel, who finished with 42 saves during the regular season, went on to struggle in the bottom of the ninth, allowing two runs on one hit and two walks before closing the door on the Yankees' season.

The can just missed hitting the right-handed reliever, landing a few feet away as a NY police officer arrived to push the reliever out of harm's way.

It comes as no surprise to anyone that Justin Verlander will get the ball in Game 1 and Gerrit Cole will start Game 2. The postseason monkey is very much on Price's back, but if Boston doesn't fall in an immediate 0-2 or 0-3 hole, the righthander may very well be Boston's best bet in a Game 3 or 4 situation and work out of the bullpen afterward. Cora's ability to get the best from his players was on display all season long. Against a patient, powerful and righty-heavy Astros lineup, Rodriguez doesn't inspire much confidence. "It's unbelievable how he's getting jobs umpiring in these playoff games".
